The Level 2 Diploma course is designed to prepare you for entry to the fashion retail industry or for further education, either within the Fashion Retail Academy or at other Further Education colleges. The aim of the course is to build on your communication skills and develop them within a fashion retail context.
For entry to the Level 2 Diploma, you should:
• be at least 16 by 1st September in the year of entry
• show motivation to succeed on the course
• be able to demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm for fashion retail.
No formal entry requirements are required for this diploma course. If you have or expect to achieve 4 A* - C grade GCSE's including English Language and Maths then you should consider applying for one of the three 2 year National Diploma courses offered by the FRA. If you have or expect to achieve 5 A-C grade GCSE's including English Language and Maths, you should apply to the 1 year Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Retail.

To assess your suitability for the Level 2 Diploma course, you will be invited to the Academy where one or more members of the course team will interview you. This will allow us to gain a good idea of your self-motivation and commitment. It will also give you an opportunity to ask questions about the course.
You'll work on understanding the principles of fashion retail as well as developing critical observation skills. We'll help you develop research and writing skills, and give you insights into the many roles in the fashion retail industry. You'll also gain a grasp of the language and terms used both within the sector and in the marketing and media associated with it.
Throughout the course we'll encourage you to build up your knowledge as well as develop presentation skills to help with future work/course applications.
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma qualification candidates must complete all the units listed below:
Students completing the Level 2 Diploma course have progressed to further study both within the Fashion Retail Academy and elsewhere, whilst others have secured varied roles in fashion retail stores.
Sales Assistants are the backbone to any successful store. The role of the Sales Assistant is to maintain certain levels of customer service, merchandising and replenishment within a store. They take payments, offer advice and select items for customers. Being a Sales Assistant is often seen as the most important experience you can get in the retail environment.
A Sales Supervisor is responsible for a team of sales assistants, stock, display and customer service. Good communication and organisational skills are essential.
