Fashion Public Relations

Fashion PR is about managing reputation and increasing awareness of a brand by influencing opinions. PR managers use all forms of media including social, press and bloggers, to establish and maintain goodwill amongst the fashion retailers’ customers.

PR officers are also responsible for events such as fashion shows to launch a collection for a new season, store openings and product launches, managing the press to gain as much exposure as possible. A PR can work directly for the fashion brand, or for an agency working on their behalf. A public relations manager needs to be organised and have good interpersonal and communications skills.

The role of a PR varies from one company to another but could include liaising with key spokespeople and representatives of the business, distributing press releases and answering enquiries from the media, co-ordinating photoshoots and events, supervising the production of promotional materials such as videos and brochures, and managing social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
