We recently caught up with Joshua Douglas, Level 3 Visual Communications and Styling Diploma student, to hear about his journey at the FRA so far, why he chose to study with us and his experience getting started.

Why the FRA?

Joshua began his journey at the FRA with our Level 2 Fashion Retail Diploma. When asked about why he chose the FRA, he said:

I knew it would provide me with the most experience that I could gain as well expand my horizons beyond a small town.

He added that much of what he knows now wouldn't be possible without the FRA, and that no other courses offer the same level of education.

I've not only been taught industry values and standards, but I've also been really had a chance to grow into my own person!

During his time at the FRA, Joshua has participated in a variety of industry enrichment experiences, such as presenting to brands such as Inditex and Marks & Spencer during challenge weeks.

First Day Feelings

When asked about how he felt on his first day, Joshua shared:

On my first day I was so nervous. I was in bits over the travel, would I make friends, the transition from secondary to college - everything. But honestly after the first week you get used to the travel, you can easily make friends even if it's a gradual process and I would say it's far more freeing than secondary!

Why Level 3 Visual Communications & Styling

Joshua chose the Level 3 Visual Communications & Styling Diploma because it is combines elements of fashion business, retail and design.

I felt that it would provide me with an appropriate skillset and well round my knowledge.

Skills Developed SO Far

The course has taught Joshua build a wide-range of industry skills already, including:

  • Photoshop
  • Research Techniques
