Overview
Ideal for people wanting to find out more about the buying and merchandising functions of a retail business and those thinking about a career change, this 2-day course will introduce you to the key elements and terminology of B&M and how these functions drive success in retail.
You’ll learn about the key stages of the buying and merchandising cycle, from product concept and range planning to stock allocation and pricing strategies. You’ll start developing skills in financial planning, data analysis and customer trends, and understand the process of decision making around product selection, pricing and working with suppliers.
TUTORS
SARAH HANSFORD has over 25 years of experience in buying and merchandising and brings a wealth of industry knowledge to her teaching. She has held senior roles at Marks & Spencer, The White Company, Arcadia Group, and QVC, and later led product strategy at Meller Designs, working with brands such as Oliver Bonas, Accessorize, and John Lewis. She has also worked on collaborative projects with Tess Daly, Kate Thornton and the V&A. Today, she combines her expertise with education as a Level 4 B&M teacher and Associate Lecturer for BA Fashion Buying.
