We recently caught up with Jasmine Brown, one of our current Level 4 Digital Marketing for Fashion Diploma students, who shared her most recent project - Under The Influence: The Creative Collaborator.

The Brief & Inspiration

For this project, the brief was to create a creative collaboration involving an influencer of choice, a brand of choice and incorporating sustainability.

I decided upon Kyra Mae Turner - a popular travel influencer - and Rare Beauty. My main idea was to create a collaboration which was cost effective, could incorporate sustainability and which also reached out to younger and upcoming generations, which ultimately led me to the idea of the 'Soft Power' collaboration.

The collaboration focused not only on sustainability, but also on being creative and content driven. It involved both Rare Beauty's and Kyra Mae's followers throughout the process, encouraging engagement and community participation.

Jasmine’s Favourite Bit

Jasmine shared that she enjoyed the research and creative side of the project most, as it allowed her to curate content and organise it within a content calendar, create relevant social media and email mock ups, and complete a content marketing matrix.

Not only was this side of the project interesting to me, it also allowed me to expand my knowledge and ultimately help prepare me for my future endeavours.

Take a look inside Jasmine's project:

Takeaways

My biggest takeaway from this project was the impact which social media has on marketing and brands today. It has become a huge part of our day to day lives, so it’s essential to utilise these platforms and use them to the brand’s advantage. If the brand isn’t adaptive enough, it could result in falling behind within the market and competitors.
Another big takeaway from the project was that new generations having a strong impact on current sales and the current beauty market. With Gen Z consumers consistently becoming more cost effective and budget friendly, brands are finding it harder to obtain their loyalty.

Tutor Support

Jasmine also shared how her tutor supported her throughout the project:

My tutor supported me throughout my project whether it was answering one of my many questions or proofreading my project constantly to help me improve my work.

Why FRA?

When asked about why she joined us to study the Level 4 Digital Marketing for Fashion Diploma, Jasmine shared:

“I had been thinking of applying to the FRA for a while and after my friend had recently finished and loved her time studying, I thought it only be right to pursue my dream in digital marketing. It had become apparent to me very quickly that the FRA offered amazing industry opportunities and is supported by some very well-known brands. So, after hearing of the opportunities my friends has been offered, I knew I couldn't miss it.”

Jasmine’s Advice

When asked what advice she would give to those considering FRA, Jasmine said:

Some advice I would give to someone thinking of studying Level 4 Digital Marketing is to make the most of every opportunity that is presented to you. You will be presented with lots of industry enrichment and opportunities, so it is key to make the most of it as the industry is extremely competitive so it's great to stand out.
