Date 17th August 2021
We recently met up with FRA alumni Ezra Brown, who graduated with a BA (Hons) Business Management for Fashion degree in 2018. He has since gone on to co-found his own business, Impossible Objects, alongside his two friends, Rhys and Josh. We went to visit the Impossible Objects Pop-Up Showroom and spoke to Ezra about how studying at the FRA helped launch his career in fashion!
You can watch the full interview on our YouTube channel now, and see inside the pop-up Impossible Objects showroom at the FRA.
What are you doing at the FRA?
We’ve set up our pop-up showroom here at the FRA for one month, from 19th July to 20th August 2021. Throughout the month, we’ve had retailers from all around the world coming in to see the collections we’re currently representing!
How did you start your own business?
Around 3 years ago, I was a student at the FRA studying the 2-year Business Management for Fashion degree. During my studies, I completed a placement at a wholesale agency, and I worked there for 2 years after I graduated. I’ve spent the last 6 months developing my own business. My friends, Rhys and Josh, and I have now launched Impossible Objects!
What is Impossible Objects?
Impossible Objects is a 360-degree agency. We work with brands based overseas who are looking for a route into the European market. We’ve built a network of retailers over the years, and we connect our clients to the brands they want to work with in Europe.
What role do you each do?
Within the agency, we have 3 avenues: wholesale, digital, PR & Communications. Josh and I run the wholesale side of things. Rhys looks after the Digital side, alongside our external partner Tim Green. Rhys also handles the PR aspect.
How has your FRA experience helped you in your career?
In terms of starting up a business, I wouldn’t be in a position to do that without coming to the FRA and studying Business Management for Fashion!
When you start a business, there are lots of hiccups and hurdles that are thrown in your way. Because of what I learnt at the FRA, I actually anticipated a lot of those, which made the whole process a lot easier for us.
What are the next steps?
We’re very excited to be in a position where we can start helping other people with their first steps into industry. We want to come back to the FRA and take students on as interns at Impossible Objects. It would be amazing to be able to help others with their careers
We just wanted to say a massive thank you to the FRA for providing us with the space for the showroom, and working alongside us on this project!
You can watch the full interview with Ezra on YouTube now. Applications for BA (Hons) Business Management for Fashion open in mid-September for 2022.
