Our BA (Hons) Marketing & Communication for Fashion students recently took on an exciting brief to develop a three-month integrated marketing campaign, aligned with a specific quarter of the year. The challenge was to drive footfall to a London flagship store through a creative, strategic and commercially focused campaign.

We caught up with Rosie, one of our current students, to hear how she approached the project and what she gained from the experience.

Rosie’s Approach

When asked how she approached the project, Rosie shared:

I chose to develop a campaign for Glossier and position it in Q4 for a Christmas themed campaign, collaborating with Olivia Dean, with a core focus on women’s empowerment during what can be an overwhelming festive period.

She also reflected on the creative process behind bringing the campaign to life:

I really enjoyed developing the campaign and letting my creativity roam free. The campaign saw Covent Garden transformed into a pink winter wonderland with a strong narrative on gift giving. I found I really enjoyed linking every aspect of together to make it all cohesive. It was very interesting to see how lots of random little ideas can come together to create something much bigger.

Skills Gained

Rosie shared how the project helped her develop transferable, industry-ready skills:

I found that I developed my strategic thinking the most throughout this project and I think that will pay off throughout the rest of my time at the FRA. I also developed the skills to turn problems into opportunities through effective visual, written and verbal communication.

Tutor Support

Support from tutors played a key role throughout the project:

My tutors were always there to answer any questions I had and gave me valuable feedback when it came to formative assessments and presenting my work. I took all feedback on board and worked it into my assignment before the hand in day.

Why She Chose FRA

At FRA, our degrees are accelerated, meaning students can finish them in two years instead of three, saving time and money. Rosie shared how this influenced her decision:

The fact I could get my degree in 2 years and only need to attend 2 days a week played a major part in my decision to study at the FRA. I actually commute from Newcastle which is about a 600 mile round trip every week. So the fact I could get my degree quicker than the courses that were available back home was a no brainer for me. Obviously I took a huge risk in doing that but I am so glad I did!

Rosie's Advice

Thinking about taking the leap? Rosie shared her advice:

Do it. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. To take such a big risk and see the potential it has to kickstart my career already and so early on is a huge positive. The marketing degree has already allowed me to develop my skills, learn directly from the industry, and gain invaluable knowledge which will only benefit me moving forward.
