Are you dreaming of a career in fashion buying? Our Level 4 Fashion Buying Diploma prepares you for jobs including Buyer’s Admin Assistant or Buyer's Clerk. You could also move into merchandising as a Merchandiser’s Admin Assistant or Allocator. Here’s a breakdown of the many roles you could work in and the responsibilities they entail.
As a Buyer’s Admin Assistant, you’ll support buying teams by managing orders, tacking deliveries, maintaining product information, processing purchase orders, liaising with suppliers and organising samples.
Buyer’s Clerks are responsible for handling business purchases. Day to day responsibilities could include processing purchase orders, managing inventory, record keeping, handling supplier enquiries/disputes, and quality and delivery checks.
I’ve loved my time at the FRA! I’ve learnt so much during my course which has prepared me for industry life. - Ella, Level 4 Fashion Buying
As a Merchandising Admin Assistant (often referred to as a MAA), you will support retail merchandising teams by tracking product flow, allocating stock, generating reports, conducting sales and stock analysis, and promotional support.
As an Allocator, you are often responsible for managing product flow in retail stores, replenishing stock, managing supplies, analysing stock and sales figures and managing inventory.
I’ll be forever grateful for the things I’ve learned and for the connections I’ve made whilst studying at FRA! - Andrew, Level 4 Fashion Buying
At the Fashion Retail Academy, we’re proud of our fashion and retail industry connections. With over 250 brand partners, we connect students with top names through masterclasses, live projects, industry talks and our Careers Fairs.
We work with brands like Dr Martens, John Lewis, ASOS, Sweaty Betty, The White Company, M&S, Harrods, Stella McCartney and many more.
Our Careers Fair brings these brands directly to the Electra House, giving you the chance to network, show your skills and learn more about careers across the industry. It’s also a great opportunity to speak with hiring teams and build connections that often lead to work experience, internships and job opportunities.
A lot of our Level 4 students continue studying with us by progressing to an undergraduate degree. You could build on your skills gained at Level 4 with our BA (Hons) Buying & Merchandising degree. This is an accelerated 2-year degree, that includes a work placement each year and your own industry mentor! Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to plan successful product ranges and fashion collections.
I loved every minute of my time at the FRA! Over the years, I’ve had some amazing experience from well-known fashion brands. This has allowed me to go straight into the industry as a BAA alongside my course. It’s my dream job and I have the FRA to thank!
