Are you thinking about studying Level 4 Digital Marketing for Fashion at the Fashion Retail Academy? We spoke with one of our current students, Chloe Phillips, to find out what the course is really like. From why she chose it to how she’s finding it, here’s what she had to say.

Why Study Level 4 Digital Marketing for Fashion?

Chloe explained that digital marketing stood out to her because of her passion for brand awareness and how brands connect with their audiences. After researching where to study, she discovered the Fashion Retail Academy.

It aligned with my interests perfectly! I then attended the induction day and met so many people. I had an insight presentation of all of the project briefs and I immediately knew that it was the one for me.

How’s She Finding The Course?

When asked about how she’s finding the course, Chloe shared:

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the course so far, as it has given me so many opportunities to learn and meet so many new people. I’ve made some really close friendships, but also been able to network with industry professionals that have aided my learning in some very interesting and valuable project topics!

She explained that, through the FRA's strong industry connections, she has developed skills in areas such as:

  • Influencer collaboration
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
  • Gamification

She credits these opportunities with building her confidence and deepening her passion for the subject.

She also shared that she’s attended inspiring trips, including the Dirty Looks Exhibition and the V&A Storehouse, which have supported her projects and broadened her perspective on fashion.

The Future Pathways Programme

As part of the Level 4 Diplomas, students take part in the Future Pathways Programme - a 3-week, full-time schedule of industry engagement activities to help students take their next steps after graduating, connect with industry professionals and build a range of skills and knowledge to improve their career prospects.

Chloe recently completed the programme and attended engaging, interactive sessions covering:

  • Visual merchandising
  • Fashion retail
  • Fashion buying
  • Digital marketing
  • Out-of-home (OOH) marketing

She explained that this helped her understand how different areas of a business connect, particularly how these roles work alongside marketing teams in professional environments.

These talks created strategic stepping stones for our overall task which was provided to us by founder of Lucy Bee, Lucy Buckingham, an natural and organic based food and skincare brand.

Lucy (founder of Lucy Bee) set students the exciting task of helping her expand into the athleisure market, asking them to develop fresh ideas. This formed the basis of a group project brief, where students used insights from the industry talks alongside their course specialisms - fashion retail, fashion buying, visual merchandising, garment technology and digital marketing. This allowed them to focus on specific areas while also developing a well-rounded, holistic proposal.

This pitch was set over 3 weeks and then was advocated through 2 panels to select the strongest pitches to then present to the board room to the team of Lucy Bee, industry professionals and president of FRA, which my group was lucky to progress to and be apart of!

Future Pathways Programme Takeaways

Reflecting on the experience, Chloe shared that she now feels far more knowledgeable and confident, with new skills she can carry into her future career.

She highlighted improvements in her presentation skills and her ability to work professionally within a team to deliver a clear, engaging, and high-quality pitch.

I really enjoyed being able to gain an understanding of different roles and responsibilities within businesses, widening my network with so many industry professionals and having the opportunity to ask questions and connect with them on LinkedIn!
