We know that travel costs are likely to be the biggest costs during your time at FRA. Here you’ll find some useful websites that can help you reduce those costs.

The FRA does not offer any accommodation at the Academy, but support can be found on the websites below to help with your search. These are only examples and there are other agencies and organisations you can try. Any agreement with property providers is direct and not endorsed by the FRA.

London has a huge and diverse private rented accommodation sector and many students live in shared accommodation. Prices vary hugely, largely depending on how close to central London you live. Useful websites include:

If you are aged 16-18 and are relocating to London to take up a place on a Level 2 or a Level 3 course at the Academy, the Residential Support Scheme might provide up to £4,000 towards the cost of accommodation. Further details can be obtained at:

For help with travel costs, you can apply to your Local Authority for Post-16 travel assistance. You will need to meet your Local Authority eligibility criteria for this scheme. Student Oyster cards are discount travel cards that provide holders with cut price travel on buses, tubes and trams in and around London. If you meet the criteria, you can apply for a 16 - 18 Oyster Photo Card:

  • You are under 18 on 31 August of the year that you are applying
  • You live in London
  • You are in full time education
  • 18+ students can get a discount of 30% off the full adult rate
