At the Fashion Retail Academy, we work with over 250 industry brands to make sure our students gain real-world insights from some of the biggest names in fashion. Through masterclasses, live projects, industry talks and more, our students receive the latest knowledge directly from professionals shaping the industry today.
Recently, we welcomed Rokeya Khanum White, Founder and Creative Director of Khanum's, to the Electra House for an inspiring two-day workshop with our final-year undergraduate degree students.
This masterclass formed part of our Entrepreneurship module, where Rokeya shared her incredible journey from being a single mum to building a seven-figure fashion brand and leading high-performing teams.
Throughout the masterclass, she explored key topics like:
To finish the masterclass, Rokeya set an exciting challenge for the students:
The winning team earned a special lunch with her at Shoreditch House, where they got a better understanding of what makes a successful business and how to create meaningful campaigns.
Rokeya shared how engaged the students were throughout the workshop and that she's looking forward to working even more closely with the FRA in the future.
I would absolutely hire more FRA students at Khanum's. We've had two students so far - a Social Media Assistant and a Digital Marketing Assistant - and so far it's been amazing! - Rokeya Khanum White, Founder and Creative Director of Khanum's
Go for it! Take the leap of faith, don't think about it too much, don't think of perfecting your brand, your business, your project - I feel like it is something you can learn along the way! You learn more as you've started. - Rokeya Khanum White, Founder and Creative Director of Khanum's
All of our final-year undergraduate degree students took part in this two-day workshop as a part of their entrepreneurship module.
Our undergraduate degree programmes include:
Rokeya is the Founder and Creative Director of Khanum’s. Raised in East London by Bangladeshi immigrant parents who worked as garment factory tailors, she was introduced to garment production from a young age.
After earning a law degree and working in the corporate world, Rokeya went on to found Khanum's - a brand created for women like her. The name Khanum itself means women of honour, status and strength.
Today, her brand has been stocked by prestigious retailers, worn by A-List celebrities and featured in to top publications including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Tatler.
We're proud to share that Rokeya has also become a Brand Ambassador for the Fashion Retail Academy, supporting our mission, amplifying our voice and helping us create new opportunities for collaboration. Through this partnership, she'll continue to inspire our students with her incredible knowledge and experience.
At the FRA, you'll have the chance to learn from industry professionals through masterclasses and industry talks. We've previously welcomed brands such as ASOS, LookFantastic, Ann Summers, Dr. Martens, and SilkFred, giving students invaluable exposure to real industry expertise.
