Sorcha Kelly, A Merchandising Star..
Sorcha Kelly studied our Level 4 Merchandising course and has worked for prestigious brands such as Selfridges, The Outnet & Net-A-Porter upon leaving the FRA.
"After graduating from the FRA, Sir Philip Green selected myself and 3 others to represent the college and UK in at the World Retail Congress in Berlin. We presented to and met some incredible industry leaders and left with job offers from Japan to Australia!
On my return I was offered a job at Selfridges (where I had been working on the Topshop concession) as an Allocator on Women's Denim and Contemporary which I loved as my first "proper job".
Within the year I was ready to progress and an Assistant Merchandiser role on Women's Designerwear was created for me. I was part of the team to launch the Designer Galleries on the 2nd floor and brought in new brands like Tom Ford and Valentino.
After a year and a half I left and joined The Outnet as an AM on Designerwear working with similar brands on an off-price business. A year and a half later a Junior Merchandiser position came up on Net-A-Porter and I had to go for it! I was successful in my application and have been looking after Accessories since November. It's really different to RTW but so much fun with all the brands and product types. It's a really exciting time for the company and I can't wait to see the what the future holds."
